The Genocide of the Greeks of Pontos Memorial Day Print

 

On Thursday, May 17th, the School of Humanities organized an event occasioned by the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontos Memorial Day, May 19th, 2012. The event started with the opening remarks of Prof. Nicolas Moussiopoulos, Deputy Chairman of the Governing Board and was followed by a brief presentation of the master programme “MA in Black Sea Cultural Studies” by the Lecturer of Archaeology, Dr. Manolis Manoledakis.

The main speaker, Dr. Kyriakos Chatzikyriakides gave a speech about “The Genocidal Turkish Policy against the Christians of the East. The Case of the Greeks of Pontos” and it was followed by a documentary on the history of the Greeks of Pontos. The topic captured the audience’s interest and set the basis for many questions followed by an interesting discussion.
