Biblical Hermeneutics & Social Studies

On completing the course the students will be able to:

  • understand the importance of context in the shaping of theology and the impact of theology on context.
  • be aware of fallacies in the area of hermeneutics, based on the one-sidedness of methodology.
  • gain an understanding of the insights social sciences can provide for an up-to-date interpretation of biblical texts.
  • acquire knowledge of some recent methodologies of interpretation.

become more sensitive to an ecumenically oriented approach to the texts.
