Church History and Theology

After completing the course, the students are expected to be able to:

  • Reconstruct the process (including structures and theological currents), through which Christianity emerged in the Late Antique religious landscape during the first three centuries
  • Describe the impact of the theological controversies upon the evolution of Christianity in the Greek-Roman Mediterranean from 4th to 7th c.
  • Interpret historically and theologically the parting of the ways between the West from the East since the 8th century and the formation of Medieval Christianity in East and West
  • Assessing the features of the Orthodox Christianity and its role during the period of Early Modernity upon a historical outline of the relevant events after the 15th c.
